CYPON CAPSULE is a combination of Cyproheptadine and Dried Yeast which belongs to the group of medicines called Appetite stimulants. It is used to treat loss of appetite.
CYPON CAPSULE is not recommended for use if you have or had angle-closure glaucoma (increased eye pressure), stenosing peptic ulcer (narrowing of the opening of stomach and intestine), enlarged prostate gland. Consult your doctor before taking it.
CYPON CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients with bronchial asthma, high blood pressure and heart problems, hyperthyroidism, fits. Consult your doctor before taking it.
CYPON CAPSULE should be used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary. It is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
CYPON CAPSULE is not recommended for use in new-born and premature infants below 2 years of age and in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking it.
The most common side effect of taking CYPON CAPSULE are dry mouth, nose and throat, drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, blurred vision etc. Contact your physician if any of the symptoms worsen.
Treats:
CYPON CAPSULE is a combination of Cyproheptadine and Dried Yeast. Cyproheptadine is a serotonin and histamine antagonist, useful in stimulating the appetite and growth. Cyproheptadine stimulates the appetite by blocking the chemical called serotonin and it antagonizes the satiety stimulating effects of serotonin on the satiety center in the brain. Dried yeast provides the necessary vitamins and helps maintain a healthy flora in the intestine.
Take CYPON CAPSULE as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your physician will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking CYPON CAPSULE and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Take fiber rich foods in your diet such as fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grain cereals and drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly and stay active. Contact your doctor if constipation persist.
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not drink alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if your dizziness did not improve.
Dry mouth can be managed by chewing sugar-free gum or sucking on sugar-free hard candies to stimulate the flow of saliva. Sip water at regular intervals of time. Do not use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they can be drying. Consult your doctor if the dry mouth gets worse.
CYPON CAPSULE should be used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary. Consult your physician before taking it.
CYPON CAPSULE is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your physician before taking it.
Do not drive or operate heavy machines if you feel dizziness or drowsiness after taking CYPON CAPSULE.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking CYPON CAPSULE as it may lead to unwanted effects.
Do not take CYPON CAPSULE if you are allergic to cyproheptadine, dried yeast or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your physician immediately. Overdosage of CYPON CAPSULE, particularly in infants and young children, may produce hallucinations, CNS depression, fits, respiratory and cardiac arrest and death.
Other signs and symptoms such as dry mouth, fixed, dilated pupils (eyes), flushing, as well as gastrointestinal symptoms may occur.

Q: Who should not use CYPON CAPSULE?
CYPON CAPSULE is not recommended to use in patients who have angle-closure glaucoma (increased eye pressure), stenosing peptic ulcer (narrowing of the opening of stomach and intestine), symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate gland), bladder neck obstruction (problems with urination), pyloroduodenal obstruction (obstruction of outlet of the stomach). Consult your physician before taking CYPON CAPSULE.
Q: What to do If I forget to take CYPON CAPSULE?
A: CYPON CAPSULE should be taken immediately when you remember. If it is time for your next dose of medicine skip the missed dose and follow the regular dose schedule. Do not double the dose to match up your missed dose.
Q: How often can I take CYPON CAPSULE?
A: Take CYPON CAPSULE as advised by your physician. Take one or two capsules twice daily or as directed by the physician. Your physician will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Q: Does CYPON CAPSULE cause drowsiness?
A: Yes. CYPON CAPSULE may cause drowsiness after taking first dose. If this happens do not drive a vehicle or operate heavy machinery or appliances which requires alertness.

Q: Does CYPON CAPSULE cause weight gain?
A: Yes. CYPON CAPSULE has appetite stimulant effect and may cause weight gain and increased growth in children due to an interference with regulation of the secretion of growth hormone. Consult your doctor before taking it.
