ALCOLIV 500MG TABLET contains Metadoxine , which belongs to a group of medicines called Alcohol Deterrents. ALCOLIV 500MG TABLET is used in the management of alcohol intoxication, which occurs as a disturbance in behaviour/mental function during or after alcohol consumption in affected individuals.
ALCOLIV 500MG TABLET is also used to manage chronic alcoholism, which occurs due to habitual and prolonged use of alcoholic beverages in affected individuals.
ALCOLIV 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use by patients allergic to Metadoxine.
Before taking ALCOLIV 500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you suffer from Parkinson's disease (a brain disorder that causes unintended or uncontrollable movements) and/or have kidney problems or liver problems (such as alcoholic liver damage).
ALCOLIV 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy unless it is clearly necessary. It is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it reduces the synthesis of prolactin (the hormone responsible for producing milk during pregnancy and after birth).
The medicine is also not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or older) after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of taking ALCOLIV 500MG TABLET are diarrhea, skin rash, numbness, and/or drowsiness. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.
ALCOLIV 500MG TABLET works by increasing alcohol elimination from blood and tissues, which results in reduced absorption of alcohol by the liver, thus aiding in alcohol intoxication and reducing liver damage in affected individuals.
Take ALCOLIV 500MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition.
