CARBIROSE 20 TABLET contains Carbimazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antithyroid agents. It is used to reduce the formation of thyroid hormones in adults and children with an overactive thyroid gland (Hyperthyroidism). This medicine is also helps to restore the normal function of the thyroid before its partial removal by surgery.
Your doctor may take blood or liver tests to determine how you are responding to the treatment. CARBIROSE 20 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver, blood disorders or history of inflammation of the pancreas (acute pancreatitis). Before taking CARBIROSE 20 TABLET inform your doctor if you have bone marrow depression, mild or moderate liver problems, swelling in neck called an intrathoracic goiter or intolerant to certain sugars.
CARBIROSE 20 TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women as it can harm the unborn baby. It is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking. CARBIROSE 20 TABLET is not recommended for use in children below 2 years of age and should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age. The common side effects of taking CARBIROSE 20 TABLET are nausea, headache, arthralgia, mild gastric distress, skin rashes and pruritus. Contact your doctor if you experience any above side effects or persists for a longer duration.
CARBIROSE 20 TABLET consists of Carbimazole, a thionamide, is a pro-drug which undergoes rapid and virtually complete metabolism to the active metabolite, thiamazole, also known as methimazole. The method of action is believed to be inhibition of the organification of iodide and the coupling of iodothyronine residues which in turn suppress the synthesis of thyroid hormones.
Take CARBIROSE 20 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.
Stop taking CARBIROSE 20 TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if your vomiting worsens.
CARBIROSE 20 TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women or women planning to have a baby. It will be given to you only if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to you and your unborn baby. Consult your doctor before taking it.
CARBIROSE 20 TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.
