ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION contains Hydrocortisone which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids. ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION is used to treat endocrine disorders (diseases of endocrine glands), rheumatic disorders (inflammatory and autoimmune diseases), and hematologic disorders (blood disorders) in affected individuals.
It is also used to treat collagen diseases (autoimmune disease), dermatologic diseases, ophthalmic diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, respiratory diseases, and neoplastic diseases. The medicine is also indicated for use to replace insufficient corticosteroid hormone, and treat edematous & allergic states, and medical emergencies (such as shock/severe allergic reactions) in affected individuals.
ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients allergic to hydrocortisone. It is also not recommended for use in patients with systemic fungal infections, viral infections (such as herpes simplex eye infection, vaccinia, varicella), and idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (blood disorder marked by low platelet levels). The medicine is also not indicated for use in patients who had recently received live attenuated vaccines.
Before receiving ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have/have had an infection (such as herpes simplex, chickenpox, tuberculosis, threadworm), bleeding/clotting problem, suffering from osteoporosis (brittle bone), high blood pressure, oedema (swelling in arms/legs), diabetes, kidney problems (such as renal insufficiency), and/or liver problems (such as cirrhosis).
ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION should be administered with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women only if it is clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION should be administered with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). If the medicine is to be received for a longer period of time, then frequent tests on the child needs to be conducted to prevent risk of developing high intracranial pressure in the child. The medicine is advised to be administered with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years) after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects associated with the use of ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION are pain and swelling at the site of injection. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.
ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION works by replacing insufficient cortisol (naturally produced steroid) levels and blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (responsible for inflammation and allergies) in the body which results in decreased swelling and providing relief from inflammation and pain in affected individuals.
ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenous injection/infusion or into a muscle as an intramuscular injection. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of ACUCORT 100MG INJECTIONfor you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop receiving ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience dizziness, vertigo (internal spinning sensation), visual disturbances and/or tiredness after receiving ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION.
ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION should be received with caution in patients with kidney problems such as renal inefficiency. Consult your doctor before receiving ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION.
ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION should be received with caution in patients with liver disease such as cirrhosis. Consult your doctor before receiving ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION.
Do not receive ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION if you are allergic to hydrocortisone, any other corticosteroid medicine, and/or any other ingredients in the medicine. Consult doctor before receiving ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION.
ACUCORT 100MG INJECTION should be received with caution in patients with heart disease such as heart failure, heart attack, and congestive heart disease. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
