LURE 300 TABLET contains Allopurinol which belongs to a group of medicines called Enzyme inhibitors. It is used to treat gout, kidney stones, enzyme disorders (Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome), and high levels of uric acid caused by certain cancer medications.
Gout is a form of arthritis due to high levels of uric acid in the body and this uric acid builds up in the joints and tendons as crystals causing severe pain, redness and tenderness in joints.
Before taking LURE 300 TABLET, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, high blood pressure or heart problems, thyroid, cancer or Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, gout attack, lactose or galactose intolerance and glucose-galactose malabsorption.
LURE 300 TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women and it is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it passes through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.
LURE 300 TABLET is not recommended for use in children below children under 15 years of age except in some types of cancer such as leukaemia and certain enzyme disorders such as Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. LURE 300 TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65years of age. Consult your doctor before taking it.
The most common side effects of taking LURE 300 TABLET are skin rash and increased levels of thyroid stimulation hormone in blood. Consult with your doctor if any of these worsens or doesn’t improve.

LURE 300 TABLET works by stopping the enzyme (xanthine oxidase) which is responsible for production of uric acid. Thus lowering the levels of uric acid in blood and urine and decreases the incidence of gout symptoms.
Take LURE 300 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicines with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking LURE 300 TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Itchy rash:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use moisturizer to soothe and hydrate the affected area. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.
Nausea or vomiting:
Try to take this medicine with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for treating diarrhea. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Stomach pain:
Rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Do not self-treat and contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of LURE 300 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and dizziness.

What happens if I suddenly stop taking LURE 300 TABLET?
Do not stop LURE 300 TABLET unless you told by doctor. If you stop taking LURE 300 TABLET suddenly, there is a high risk of gout attack or you will get serious side effects. Consult your doctor before stopping.
Can LURE 300 TABLET cause joint pain?
Yes. LURE 300 TABLET can cause joint pain. But it is a rare side effect. If you develop any of these symptoms stop the medication and contact your healthcare provide.
Does LURE 300 TABLET affect my ability to drive?
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel drowsy, giddy or have problems with co-ordination after taking LURE 300 TABLET. You can resume with your activities after you feel normal again.
If I am having a gout attack, will an extra dose of LURE 300 TABLET help me?
No. LURE 300 TABLET is not a pain reliever and does not show its effect immediately. If you have an attack of gout while taking LURE 300 TABLET, keep taking it at the same dose. Do not stop taking it. Your doctor may advise you to take a pain reliever medicine You can also apply icepacks or cold compress and rest the affected joint, to reduce pain. See your doctor if the pain and inflammation does not show improvement in 24 hours.
