AMBISOME 50MG INJECTION contains Amphotericin B which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-fungal agents. AMBISOME 50MG INJECTION is used to treat invasive fungal infections in patients who are resistant/intolerant to conventional Amphotericin B therapy.
AMBISOME 50MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Amphotericin B. It is also not recommended for use in patients with common/superficial, clinically inapparent fungal infections (which are detectable only by positive skin/serologic tests).
Before receiving AMBISOME 50MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are neutropenic, and/or have liver problems (such as hepatic impairment), and suffer from kidney problems/undergoing dialysis.
AMBISOME 50MG INJECTION should be used with caution in pregnant and breast-feeding women only if it is clearly necessary. It is also used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and in elders (aged above 65 years) after consulting with the doctor.
The most common side effects of receiving AMBISOME 50MG INJECTION are fever, chills, and/or rigors. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.
AMBISOME 50MG INJECTION binds to ergosterol (steroid present on the cell membranes of fungi) which leads to the formation of pores and ion leakage on the cell membrane resulting in fungal cell death thus treating invasive fungal infections in affected individuals.
AMBISOME 50MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenous infusion. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
AMBISOME 50MG INJECTION should be administered with caution in pregnant women only if it is clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
