INTRODUCTION

BIFLACE NEW contains Fluorometholone which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids. It is used to treat ocular conditions such as inflammation of the eye due to injury, swelling, itching, redness, irritation, ocular trauma, conjunctivitis, and post-surgery.

Before using BIFLACE NEW inform your doctor if you have blurred vision or other visual disturbances, eye infection, have or have been previously treated for herpes simplex, wear soft (hydrophilic) contact lenses. If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using BIFLACE NEW and it is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as safety is not established. Consult your doctor before using BIFLACE NEW.

BIFLACE NEW is not recommended for use in children (under 2 years of age) due to lack of safety and effectiveness. It should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Consult your doctor before using BIFLACE NEW. The most common side effects of using BIFLACE NEW are increased pressure inside the eye, eye pain, eye irritation, an excess of tears, eye infection, itching or redness of the eye. Consult your physician if any of the symptom worsens.

USES OF BIFLACE NEW

  • Treats ocular conditions such as inflammation of the eye (due to injury, swelling, itching, redness, irritation, ocular trauma, conjunctivitis, and post-surgery)

HOW BIFLACE NEW WORKS

BIFLACE NEW works by blocking the release of certain chemicals (called prostaglandins) that causes pain and inflammation. Also, it helps to relieve the symptoms such as itching and redness of the eye.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Use BIFLACE NEW as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. It is for ophthalmic use only. Before applying, tilt your head back and look upward. Gently pull the lower eyelid to form a small pocket. Squeeze the upturned dropper bottle to release a drop into your eye. Release the lower lid and close your eye for 30 seconds. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age and severity of the condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF BIFLACE NEW

COMMON

  • increased pressure inside the eye
  • mild stinging or burning sensation
  • temporary blurred vision
  • eye pain
  • eye irritation
  • abnormal sensation in the eye
  • eye or eyelid swelling or puffiness
  • eye discharge
  • itching or redness of the eye
  • an excess of tears
  • eye infection
  • ulcers on the surface of the eye
  • small grey bumps on the surface of the eye
  • excessive dilation of the pupil
  • allergic reactions
  • change in sense of taste
  • rash

RARE

Stop using BIFLACE NEW and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • serious allergic reactions (symptoms include swallowing or breathing difficulties, swelling of your lips, face, throat, or tongue)
  • any kind of corneal (see-through layer covering the eye) disease

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Eye pain:

Do not touch or rub your eyes. Wear sunglasses while going outside. Do not strain your eyes by watching bright screen for long time. Take enough sleep to give rest to your body and eyes. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Eye irritation:

Wear sunglasses while going outside. Rinse your eyes with preservative-free saline water or place a cold or damp washcloth over your closed eye. Try not to rub your eyes and consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

PREGNANCY

If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using BIFLACE NEW.

BREASTFEEDING

BIFLACE NEW is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as safety data is not established. Consult your doctor before using BIFLACE NEW.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience blurred vision after using BIFLACE NEW.

ALLERGY

Do not use BIFLACE NEW if you are allergic to Fluorometholone or benzalkonium chloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

OTHERS

BIFLACE NEW is not recommended for use if you:

  • have severe bacterial, viral, or fungal infection of the eye or tuberculosis of the eye

Before using BIFLACE NEW inform your doctor if you:

  • have or have been previously treated for herpes simplex
  • have blurred vision or other visual disturbances
  • have eye infection
  • wear soft (hydrophilic) contact lenses

Use in paediatrics:

BIFLACE NEW is not recommended for use in children (under 2 years of age) due to lack of safety and effectiveness. Consult child’s doctor for advice.

Use in geriatrics:

BIFLACE NEW should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Consult your doctor before using BIFLACE NEW.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before using BIFLACE NEW, inform your doctor if you are using or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription, vitamin supplement or herbal products.

  • ritonavir, cobicistat (used to treat HIV infection)
  • other eye drops

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally use too much of BIFLACE NEW, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
