AZITHRAL EYE DROPS contains Azithromycin which belongs to a group of medicines called Macrolide antibiotics. It is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis (bacterial infection that affects mucous membrane of eye) caused by susceptible microorganisms such as Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mitis group, and Streptococcus pneumonia in affected individuals.
AZITHRAL EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in patients allergic to azithromycin. Before using the medicine, inform your doctor if you wear contact lenses.
AZITHRAL EYE DROPS should be used with caution in pregnant women only if it is clearly necessary which is also used caution in breastfeeding women as it is not known whether the medicine gets excreted in the breast milk. Consult your doctor before using the medicine.
AZITHRAL EYE DROPS should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged 1 to 18 years) which is also used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 87 years). Consult your doctor before using the medicine.
The most common side effect of using AZITHRAL EYE DROPS is eye irritation. Consult your doctor if the symptom worsens.
AZITHRAL EYE DROPS works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis (essential for the bacteria to growth) which results in its destruction thus preventing its growth and spread of infection and providing relief from bacterial conjunctivitis in affected individuals.
Always use AZITHRAL EYE DROPS as directed by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands before application. Tilt your head slightly backwards and pull your lower eyelid down to create a pocket. Instil a drop in the pocket and avoid touching the tip with your eye. Close your eye gently and press your finger against the inside corner of the eye. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
