INTRODUCTION

4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT contains Moxifloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis. Bacterial conjunctivitis is the infection of the transparent membrane (conjunctiva) that lines the eyelid and covers the white part of your eyeball. Symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis include pain, discomfort, redness, itching, irritation, and watery eyes.

Patients should be advised not to wear contact lenses if they have signs and symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis. 4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT should be used with caution in pregnant women or if you think you may be pregnant and in breastfeeding woman. Consult your doctor before using.

The safety and effectiveness of 4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT in infants below 1 year of age have not been established. Consult your doctor for advice before using this medicine.4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT should be used with caution in elderly patients of above 65 years of age. The common side effects are eye pain or irritation. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

USES OF 4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT

  • Used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis

HOW 4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT WORKS

4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT works by inhibiting the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV which are required for DNA replication and transcription resulting in cell death. This prevents the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing and destroys them.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Apply 4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT as advised by your physician. It is for topical ophthalmic use only. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your age, body weight and severity of the infection.

SIDE EFFECTS OF 4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT

COMMON

  • decreased visual acuity
  • dry eyes
  • keratitis (inflammation of cornea)
  • redness, eye pain and itching
  • bright red patch
  • tearing
  • fever
  • increased cough
  • ear infection
  • throat pain, sore throat, difficulty in swallowing
  • rash
  • rhinitis (runny nose)

UNCOMMON

  • headache
  • signs of blepharitis like red, itchy eyelids
  • eye swelling
  • altered taste sensation

RARE

  • anemia
  • numbness
  • signs of erythema of eyelid endophthalmitis such as sever eye pain, extreme sensitivity to light
  • signs of corneal problems (Ex. ulcerative keratitis, corneal erosion, corneal abrasion, corneal opacity, corneal infiltrates) include red, teary eyes with pain and pus discharge
  • signs of increased intraocular pressure like severe headache and vomiting
  • nasal discomfort, throat pain, sensation of foreign body in throat
  • vomiting

Stop applying and contact your doctor immediately if you experience following side effects:

  • signs of a rash or allergic reactions

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Eye Irritation Or Itching

Close your eyes and relax for some time. Place an ice pack over the eyes for few minutes. Avoid watching mobile phone, system, laptop, or any other light sources which might irritate your eyes. If the symptom persists or worsens, contact your doctor.

Headache

Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Try to take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Massage on scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor for advice.

Nausea And Vomiting

Stick to simple meals. Try to Avoid oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks, and drinks. Try to drink liquid slowly along with your meals, or in between meals. Consult your doctor if your symptom is not improving.

Visual Disturbances

This happens immediately after putting the medicine and is usually temporary. Wait until your vision becomes clear before you start doing normal works.

PREGNANCY
Risky

There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, 4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Consult your doctor before applying the medicine.

BREASTFEEDING
Use with Caution

4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before using.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Use with Caution

Do not drive or handle any machines while using 4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT, since it may cause temporary blurred vision and other visual disturbances.

ALLERGY
Contraindicated

Do not use 4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT if you are allergic to Moxifloxacin or any other ingredients of this medicine.

USE IN PEDIATRICS

  • wear contact lens
  • have pain or swelling of the tendons (tendinitis)

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Inform your doctor if you are taking, applying or have recently taken any other medicines, including prescription, non-prescription and herbal supplements.

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally applies too much of 4 QUIN EYE OINTMENT, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Wash your eyes and rinse it all out with warm water.
