CARACSOL EYE DROPS is a combination of Calcium chloride, Potassium iodide and Sodium chloride which belong to the group of medicines called minerals and electrolytes, respectively. It is used to prevent cataracts by maintaining clarity and pressure within the lens in affected individuals.
It is also used to clear vision in cataract patients who have lenticular opacity pre-operatively and posterior capsular opacity post-operatively, particularly in those whose cataract surgery has been postponed due to reasons such as uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes mellitus, severe bleeding disorders and severe respiratory disorders. It is also used to delay cataract formation and maintain normal nutrition to the lens, which is also used to prevent eyesight disorientation in cataract patients.
A cataract is an abnormal clouding of the eye lens that occurs due to age and/or injury. It is generally characterised by symptoms such as blurred vision, invisibility in dim light, seeing haloes around lights and/or vision loss.
CARACSOL EYE DROPS is not recommended for use if you are allergic to calcium chloride, potassium iodide, sodium chloride and/or iodine. Before using CARACSOL EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you suffer from any other eye problems and/or have kidney problems (such as renal failure) and liver problems (such as liver impairment).

This medicine is also used with caution in elderly patients (aged over 65 years). Consult your ophthalmologist before using the medicine.
The most common side effects associated with the use of CARACSOL EYE DROPS are eye redness, swollen eyes, blurred vision, eye discomfort and/or dizziness. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.
CARACSOL EYE DROPS helps to prevent cataracts where Calcium chloride reverses calcium depletion (due to ageing) by increasing the calcium stores in the eyes, potassium iodide and sodium chloride work by maintaining osmotic pressure and lens permeability by balancing intracellular potassium and extracellular sodium ions in the lens membrane which results in the electrolyte balance thus maintaining lens permeability and preventing the occurrence of cataract due to electrolyte imbalance.
Take CARACSOL EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Shake well before use. Wash your hands thoroughly and use the dropper to instil the drops in the affected eye. Avoid contacting the container’s tip with the eye, eyelids and/or surrounding areas to prevent the contamination of the solution. Replace the outer cap after use. Your ophthalmologist will determine the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
