ABVIDA 50MG TABLET contains Vildagliptin which belongs to group of medicines called Oral Anti-diabetics. It is used in adults to manage type 2 diabetes which helps to control the blood sugar levels when diet and exercise becomes insufficient to control the disease.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a medical condition in which the body does not make enough insulin or if the insulin that the body makes is insufficient leading to high blood sugar level in the body. It is generally characterized by symptoms such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, excessive hunger, unintended weight loss and tiredness.
Along management with ABVIDA 50MG TABLET, your doctor might advise you to follow the diet and/or exercise which is beneficial. Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ABVIDA 50MG TABLET because it might lead to low blood glucose levels.
Before taking ABVIDA 50MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are on dialysis or have diabetic ketoacidosis (serious complication of diabetes), pancreatic disease, heart failure and liver or kidney disease.
ABVIDA 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women, which is also not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). It should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above).
The side effects of taking ABVIDA 50MG TABLET are dizziness, headache, joint pain and constipation. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.
ABVIDA 50MG TABLET controls blood glucose level by acting on the pancreas to produce more insulin and less glucagon which leads to low production of blood sugar levels resulting in controlled blood glucose levels.
Take ABVIDA 50MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Do not crush or chew ABVIDA 50MG TABLET. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking ABVIDA 50MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. If the symptom does not improve, consult your doctor.
Lie down until dizziness is gone, then get up slowly. Move slowly and carefully, do not hurry. Get adequate rest. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. Avoid coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Drink ample amount of water and avoid skipping meals. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Apply pain relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
ABVIDA 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
ABVIDA 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women or women who plan to breast-feed. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizziness after taking ABVIDA 50MG TABLET.

ABVIDA 50MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with moderate or severe kidney disease and in patients who are undergoing dialysis. Consult your doctor before taking it.
