INTRODUCTION

AERODIL EXPECTORANT is a combination of Ambroxol, Guaiphenesin and Terbutaline which belongs to the group of medicines called Mucolytics, Expectorant and Beta agonists respectively. AERODIL EXPECTORANT is used in the relief of cough associated with bronchitis, bronchial asthma, emphysema, and other bronchopulmonary disorders where bronchospasm, mucous plugging and problems of expectoration co-exist (lung and airway diseases that have excessive and thick mucus formation, swelling and inflammation of airways, making it difficult to breath).

Before taking AERODIL EXPECTORANT, inform your doctor if you have or have ever had a stomach ulcer, pre-existing ischaemic heart disease or those patients with significant risk factors for ischaemic heart disease, thyrotoxicosis (condition in which you have too much thyroid hormone in your body), diabetes mellitus or hypertension.

HOW AERODIL EXPECTORANT WORKS

AERODIL EXPECTORANT is a combination of Ambroxol, Guaiphenesin and Terbutaline. Ambroxol thins and loosens mucus making it easier to cough out. Guaiphenesin belongs to expectorant which decreases the stickiness of mucus and helps in its removal from the airways. Terbutaline works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widens the airways.

Terbutaline predominantly stimulates beta 2-receptors (these a kind of receptors present in airway smooth muscles) thus producing relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle. When the medicine is given in combination, it makes breathing easier and relives the discomfort.
