Emty Oral Solution is a laxative that is used for the treatment of constipation. It is also indicated during the treatment of liver problems such as hepatic encephalopathy (HE). It contains Lactulose as an active ingredient that is effective in treating constipation.
Lactulose is broken down by the gut bacteria into acids. These acids lower the pH of the large bowel and increase the volume of bowel contents which as a result stimulates bowel emptying movements and makes the consistency of the stool normal.
Take Emty Oral Solution as directed by your doctor. Starting and maintenance dosage will be advised by your doctor only. Take plenty of fluids (6-8 glasses) during the day while taking this medicine. It is safe for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women but always consult your doctor before taking it. You can give Emty Oral Solution to your child but only after consulting the child’s doctor.
Emty Oral Solution may cause diarrhea, flatulence, stomach pain, nausea and vomiting in some individuals. Consult your doctor if you notice any such effects while taking Emty Oral Solution.
A: Emty Oral Solution is a laxative medicine that provides relief from constipation and as an adjuvant in the management of hepatic encephalopathy. It contains lactulose as an active ingredient. Lactulose works by retaining more water/fluid within the intestines which softens hard stools, thus facilitating the easy passage of feces. It also increases the number of bowel movements which helps in relieving occasional constipation. Studies have shown that by treating constipation, it eliminates the toxic gas (ammonia) from the gut which could worsen hepatic encephalopathy.
A: Emty Oral Solution begins to work after 8-12 hours of administration. However, it may take 48 hours to show its complete effects on constipation.
A: Emty Oral Solution should be used in children, infants, and babies under medical supervision because it can influence the normal reflexes for passing stools. Therefore, do not administer Emty Oral Solution to your children (especially aged below 14 years) without consulting your doctor.
A: You can utilize Emty Oral Solution for the duration of your constipation or as advised by your doctor. Typically, this would be for a maximum of one week. However, in cases of severe constipation or when lactulose is prescribed for hepatic encephalopathy, your physician might suggest its use for an extended period, possibly spanning several months.
A: The most common side effects of Emty Oral Solution are diarrhoea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects troubles you.
A: Emty Oral Solution can be taken with or without food. There are no restrictions on what you can eat or drink while taking Emty Oral Solution syrup.
A: It is generally recommended to take it at the same time each day to establish a routine. Some people prefer taking it in the morning to promote regular bowel movements throughout the day, while others find it more convenient to take it in the evening to facilitate bowel movements the following morning. Ultimately, it's advisable to follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider or pharmacist for the most suitable timing based on your specific circumstances and medical needs.
A: Take Emty Oral Solution using a spoon or measuring cup. It can be combined with fruit juice or water. It's advisable to stay hydrated by consuming ample fluids (around 6-8 glasses daily). It typically requires 2 to 3 days to initiate its effects. Following this period, you might be able to adjust your dosage based on your requirements.
A: Emty Oral Solution is usually not recommended for use in infants and smaller children as it can disturb the normal reflexes for passing stools. Your child’s doctor will decide the correct dose or select a suitable alternative treatment for your child. In special situations, your doctor may prescribe it for your baby, and they will supervise the treatment closely.
A: Emty Oral Solution may cause diarrhoea when you take a higher than the recommended dose of it. In such cases, stop using this medicine and consult your doctor for advice.
A: Emty Oral Solution can be used during pregnancy if prescribed by the physician.
A: If you forget to take a dose of Emty Oral Solution, take it as soon as you remember. However, omit the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take Emty Oral Solution twice to make up for the forgotten dose.
A: Continue taking Emty Oral Solution until your doctor tells you to stop, unless you experience any unwanted effects, worsening of your condition or any new symptoms. In such a case, contact your doctor right away. If you stopped taking it suddenly, the expected benefit of the treatment may not be achieved.
A: Emty Oral Solution works by making the stool softer and easier to pass, by drawing more water into the bowel. It also reduces the amount of ammonia in the blood by removing the toxin from the bloodstream which helps to improve cognitive functions.
