INTRODUCTION

CYPROZIDE SYRUP is a combination of Cyproheptadine and Tricholine Citrate, which belong to the groups of medicines called antihistamines and bile acid-binding agents, respectively. It is used to treat loss of appetite, weight loss and anorexia nervosa (an eating disorder). It is also used to treat weight gain in anti-tubercular and antiretroviral regimens.

In children, it is used for gaining weight, having an inadequate dietary intake or loss of appetite or suffering from anaemia, liver disease or digestive disorders. It is also used to treat allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, migraine, asthma and hepatic disorders. Appetite loss is a state in which an individual has no desire to eat food, which leads to a deficiency of essential and non-essential nutrients that are required for the proper metabolism and growth of the body.

CYPROZIDE SYRUP is not recommended for use in patients who have or had angle-closure glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy, bladder neck obstruction or pyloroduodenal obstruction. Alcohol should be avoided during CYPROZIDE SYRUP treatment because it may increase the CYPROZIDE SYRUP's action.

CYPROZIDE SYRUP is not recommended for use by pregnant or breastfeeding women. It should be recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age).

The most common side effects of taking this medicine are drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, blurred vision, loss of coordination, skin rash, gastrointestinal upset, nausea or vomiting. Contact your physician if the symptoms worsen.

HOW CYPROZIDE SYRUP WORKS

CYPROZIDE SYRUP contain Cyproheptadine and Tricholine Citrate, where Cyproheptadine prevents weight loss by reducing the effect of serotonin (a chemical messenger) in the hypothalamus that helps in regulating appetite and Tricholine Citrate is a bile acid-binding agent that works by removing the bile acids from the body, which results in the liver using cholesterol, leading to more production of bile acids, which causes a decreased cholesterol level in the body, resulting in weight gain.
