CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET contains Tranexamic Acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Antifibrinolytics. It is used in the prevention and treatment of bleeding in conditions such as heavy menstrual bleeding in women, bleeding inside the digestive system (Ex. inflammatory bowel disease), bleeding from the nose, blood in urine (not caused by the kidney (renal parenchyma)), control bleeding after dental extraction in patients with coagulopathies and after cervix surgery.
CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with blood clotting disorder or consumption coagulopathy, kidney disease, fits or seizure disorder, irregular menstrual cycle, acquired disturbances of color vision, venous or arterial thrombosis, active thromboembolic diseases such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and cerebral thrombosis, subarachnoid hemorrhage and blood in urine during periods.
Before taking CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you had or have changes in normal bleeding pattern, family history of endometrial cancer, abnormal bleeding between periods, bleeding during or after sexual intercourse, premenstrual pain, lower abdominal pain, bleeding after menopause, are at risk of having a blood clot, diabetic, overweight, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant and breast-feeding women only if clearly advised by the doctor. Consult your doctor before taking CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET. Your doctor may recommend you to take relevant tests to understand your existing condition.
Safety and effectiveness of CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET in children and adolescents below 18 years of age has not been established yet and it is not recommended for use in elderly women after menopause (stoppage of periods).
The most common side effects of taking CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, tiredness and stomach pain. Consult your doctor immediately if any of the side effect worsens.
It is used to treat and prevent bleeding in conditions such as,
CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET prevents bleeding by blocking the plasminogen from binding with fibrin which results in bleeding. As a result, it prevents and controls bleeding associated with various conditions.
Always take CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole and do not crush or chew the medicine. Do not take this medicine before your period has started as it will not work properly. Your doctor will decide the correct dose, duration and frequency of CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET for you depending upon age, weight and disease conditions.
Stop taking CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Drink lot of fluids, such as water to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid eating high-fat or spicy foods. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to treat diarrhea and consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Drink ample amount of water and avoid skipping meals. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Apply pain relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Stick to simple meals while taking this medicine. Avoid eating oily rich, fried or spicy foods. Do not lie down or sleep immediately after eating. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller meals more frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, consult your doctor.
CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women only if considered clearly necessary. Inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant before using CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET.
CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding women only if advised by the doctor as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET.
Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience dizziness after taking CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET.
CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney impairment. CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment and your doctor may adjust the dose depending upon kidney function. Consult your doctor for advice before taking CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET.
No dose adjustment is required in patients with hepatic impairment. Consult your doctor for advice.
Do not take CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET if you are allergic to Tranexamic Acid or any other ingredients of this medicine.
CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with pulmonary embolism (arteries of the lungs are blocked by clot). Consult your doctor before taking CLOSTOP 500MG TABLET.
