ADVENT DROPS contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid, which belong to the group of medicines called Penicillin and Beta-Lactamase Inhibitors. It is used in children for the treatment of various bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (such as pneumonia), urinary tract infections (cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis), bone and joint infections, middle ear infections (otitis media), tonsillitis, sinusitis, skin, and soft tissue infections such as cellulitis, animal bites, dental infections (severe dental abscess), etc.
ADVENT DROPS is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney impairment, history of liver problems or jaundice after taking penicillin antibiotics. ADVENT DROPS should be used with caution in patients suffering from glandular fever (viral infection causing sore throat, high fever, swelling of salivary glands, etc), liver disease, kidney disease, who are not passing urine daily.
ADVENT DROPS is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless clearly necessary. ADVENT DROPS should be used with caution in breastfeeding women as it may pass through breastmilk. ADVENT DROPS should be used with caution in neonates and infants less than 12 weeks of age. Consult your doctor before taking ADVENT DROPS. The most common side effects after taking ADVENT DROPS are vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, thrush (fungal infections) etc. Consult your doctor immediately if your symptoms get worse or persist.
ADVENT DROPS help in treating bacterial infection where Amoxicillin works by inhibiting penicillin binding proteins (which are involved in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall) leading to activation of autolytic enzymes in the bacterial cell wall. Therefore, leading to lysis of the cell wall and death of bacterial cell and Clavulanic acid inhibits the activity of bacterial enzymes known as beta lactamases. As a result, it enhances the antibacterial activity of amoxicillin.
Take ADVENT DROPS as advised by your physician. Shake the medicine well before every use. Avoid contaminating the dropper. Your doctor will decide the exact dose and duration of treatment for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking ADVENT DROPS and consult your doctor immediately in case you experience:
Nausea, vomiting:
Take the medicine, before meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food however, contact your doctor if your symptoms get worse or persist.
Itchy skin:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin and do not scratch the affected area. Apply moisturizing cream, Sunscreen and use protective clothing. Contact your doctor if your symptoms get worse or persist.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor if your symptoms get worse or persist.
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Don’t take any medicine on your own to treat diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if your symptoms get worse or persist.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of water and electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if required. Contact your doctor if your symptoms get worse or persist.
