HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET contains cyproheptadine, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihistamines. It is used in the treatment of allergic conditions in children (aged between 2-7 years), such as seasonal and perineal rhinitis, hay fever, skin rashes and allergic conjunctivitis. The medicine is also used as adjuvant therapy for serious allergic reactions.
Perennial rhinitis refers to specific allergens that cause an allergic reaction year-round, for example, pet hair or dander, food allergies or medicines. Whereas seasonal allergies typically occur due to changes in the weather or environmental changes that include pollen, insects, moisture, dryness, fungi, mold, etc.
HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET is not recommended for use in premature or newborn infants. This medicine should be used with caution in pregnant women only if recommended by your doctor. It is not recommended for use in breastfeeding mothers. The most common side effects of taking HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET include dizziness, drowsiness, high fever, etc. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.
Treats allergic conditions in children (between 2-7 years of age), such as:
HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET treats allergic reactions by binding with certain receptors and blocking them from binding with histamine in the body. Histamine is a mediator found in our body that is responsible for causing allergic symptoms (such as inflammation, itching, irritation, etc.) as a response to allergic conditions. As a result, it provides relief from the allergic condition.
Take HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water and it can be taken independent of meals. Do not crush or chew HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET. Your doctor will decide the correct dose, frequency and duration of the treatment for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Dizziness:

HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET must be used in pregnant women only if recommended by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET.
HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET.
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy or feel that your mental alertness or motor coordination is affected after taking HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET because it causes an additive effect making you feel dizzy or drowsy.
HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking HEPTIDIN 2MG TABLET.
