ADMENTA 10MG TABLET contains Memantine which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-dementia drugs. It is used to treat moderate to severe Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease is a neurodegenerative disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions in an individual. It is caused due to formation and accumulation of certain toxic proteins in the brain that destroys brain cells. It can be characterized by loss of memory and forgetfulness of day-to-day activities.
Memantine is a N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist. It acts by blocking the over activation of certain chemicals (glutamate and beta-amyloid peptide) in the brain that causes Alzheimer’s disease. It can also block the activity of other chemical messengers (like serotonin and acetylcholine) which are responsible for affecting thoughts, memory and mental state.
Before taking ADMENTA 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have or have a family history of fits or if you made any sudden changes to your diet. During treatment with ADMENTA 10MG TABLET, your doctor would closely monitor your health condition to access the improvement and to avoid unwanted side effects.
ADMENTA 10MG TABLET should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women. It is also not suitable for use in children aged below 18 years. It should be used with caution in the elderly patients.
The most common side effects of taking ADMENTA 10MG TABLET are headache, dizziness, sleepiness and constipation. Consult your doctor if they trouble you. Also, inform your doctor if you unusually feel sad or depressed with suicidal thoughts after taking ADMENTA 10MG TABLET.

Stop taking ADMENTA 10MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Headache:
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.
ADMENTA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
ADMENTA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breast feeding women. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Do not drive or operate heavy machines if your ability is affected by ADMENTA 10MG TABLET.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ADMENTA 10MG TABLET as it might make you feel dizzy or drowsy.
ADMENTA 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems (such as renal tubulary acidosis, severe infections of the urinary tract or have problem in passing urine). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
ADMENTA 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems (such as jaundice or liver failure). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
