COGNISTAR 60MG INJECTION contains Cerebroprotein Hydrolysate which belongs to group of medicines called Neurotrophic agents. It is used to treat cranial injury, aprosexia (inability to concentrate) in dementia, cerebrovascular disease that includes stroke, and Alzheimer's disease.
A cranial injury is a head injury causing trauma to the scalp, skull, or brain. It is characterised by symptoms such as leakage of blood outside the blood vessels, uncontrolled bleeding, skull fracture, brain injury, or swelling in the brain.
A stroke occurs when the blood supply to the brain or part of it is blocked. It is characterised by symptoms such as troubled speech, numbness in the body, visual disturbances, headaches, and troubled waking.
Dementia is a group of symptoms such as loss of memory and thinking/reasoning abilities. Alzheimer’s disease is a disorder that causes progressive degeneration of brain cells, resulting in brain shrinkage. It is characterised by dementia, social withdrawal, and wandering.
COGNISTAR 60MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with severe renal dysfunction, status epilepticus (a life-threatening neurological disorder), or major epilepsia (a seizure that causes loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions).
COGNISTAR 60MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with epilepsy (fits or seizures) and or allergic diathesis (condition causing predisposition to develop group of allergies such as hay fever, allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, or atopic dermatitis).

It improves the survival ability of nerve cells. It also helps in the formation of new nerve cells, increasing nutrition of brain cells, reducing inflammation of brain tissues, and blocking the release of certain chemicals that may damage brain cells.
