LATOBEST OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION contains Latanoprost which belongs to the group of medicines called Prostaglandin analogs. It is used to treat open angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension (both linked to increased pressure in the eye). Glaucoma is a group of diseases characterized by gradual damage to the optic nerve (nerves that carry visual messages), that may result in loss of vision. Prior to the treatment, your doctor may want you to take certain eye tests to understand your existing condition.
Before using LATOBEST OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION, inform your doctor if you or your child have eye problems (pain, irritation or inflammation of eyes, blurred vision or dry eyes) or viral infection of the eye. Also inform your doctor if you have severe asthma, are using contact lens or going to have an eye surgery (cataract surgery).
LATOBEST OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Safety and effectiveness of LATOBEST OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION in prematurely born infants (less than 36 weeks gestation) has not been established yet. Use a finger to gently pull down the lower eyelid to make a pocket of the affected eye. Place one drop into the affected eye(s) and then release the lower eyelid and hold for 1 minute whilst keeping the eye closed.
If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
