INTRODUCTION

KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET contains Cinitapride which belongs to the group of medicines called Gastro-prokinetic agents. KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease and functional gastrointestinal motility disorders (disease marked by persistent and recurring gastrointestinal symptoms) in affected individuals.

KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Cinitapride. It is also not recommended for use in patients with gastrointestinal bleeding/obstruction/perforation and in patients with a history of neuroleptic-induced tardive dyskinesia (condition marked by involuntary movements of head, neck, trunk or limbs).

Before taking KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have intolerance to certain sugars (such as lactose), liver disease (such as primary/secondary liver tumors, hepatocellular carcinoma) and/or kidney disease (such as acute renal injury/failure).

KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. It is also not recommended for use in children & adolescents (aged below 18 years) and is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years/above) after consulting the doctor.

The most common side effects of taking KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET are abdominal discomfort, nausea and/or diarrhea. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.

  • Treats gastroesophageal reflux disease
  • Treats functional gastrointestinal motility disorders in affected individuals

HOW KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET WORKS

KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET works by increasing the gastrointestinal movement by enhancing the frequency and strength of stomach muscle contractions which leads to increased gastric motility & emptying thus improving gastro-duodenal coordination and preventing the occurrence of gastroesophageal reflux disease in affected individuals.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET

COMMON

  • abdominal discomfort
  • diarrhea
  • nausea

RARE

  • signs of allergic skin reactions such as rash, itching
  • gynecomastia (swelling of male breast tissue)
  • angioedema (swelling under the skin)
  • spasm in the muscles of face, neck and tongue

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea and vomiting:

Try to take KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if symptom gets worse.

Diarrhea:

Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to treat diarrhea. Consult your doctor and inform them if the symptom gets worse.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY

KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

BREASTFEEDING

KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or use heavy machinery while taking KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET as it may affect your ability to drive or use heavy machinery.

ALCOHOL

Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET because it might enhance the sedative effects of the medicine.

KIDNEY

KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney diseases such as acute renal injury/failure. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

LIVER

KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver diseases such as primary/secondary liver tumors, hepatocellular carcinoma. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

ALLERGY

Do not take KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET if you are allergic to cinitapride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

OTHERS

KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:

  • gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction or perforation with stimulating gastric motility
  • history of neuroleptic-induced tardive dyskinesia (rapid, repeated movements of the head, neck, trunk or limbs)

Before taking KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

  • intolerance to certain sugars such as lactose

Use in Pediatrics:

KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

Use in Geriatrics:

KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years) especially with type 2 diabetes. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug - Drug interactions:

Before taking KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking:

  • phenothiazine (used to treat serious mental and emotional disorders)
  • other antidopaminergic drugs (used as a non-addictive alternative to treat withdrawal, agitation and anxiety in patients with alcohol dependence) Ex. risperidone, olanzapine
  • digoxin (used to treat heart failure)
  • anticholinergic drugs (used to treat various conditions such as urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, asthma, diarrhea, motion sickness) Ex. atropine, clidinium, cyclopentolate
  • opioid analgesics (used to relieve moderate or intense pain) Ex. codeine, fentanyl
  • medicine used to treat nervous system diseases, insomnia. Ex. amitriptyline
  • medicine used to treat Parkinson’s disease (Ex. levodopa)
  • medicine used to treat abdominal pain (Ex. ibuprofen)
  • medicine used to treat respiratory disease such as chronic bronchitis. (Ex. albuterol)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of KINPRIDE 1MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include drowsiness, disorientation and/or extrapyramidal reactions (such as involuntary muscle movements of face, neck and tongue).
