ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE contains Gabapentin which belongs to the group of medicines called Anticonvulsants. It is used in the treatment of various forms of epilepsy alone or in combination with other medicine and treats peripheral neuropathic pain.
Epilepsy is the disturbed nerve cell activity in the brain, causing seizures or periods of unusual behaviour, sensations and sometimes loss of consciousness. Peripheral neuropathic pain is a long-term weakness, numbness or pain caused by damage to the nerves in hands and legs characterized by a feeling of hot, burning, throbbing, shooting, sharp, tingling, numbness.
Do not stop taking ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE suddenly, as this may lead to increased risk of seizures. Your doctor might want to take certain tests before starting the treatment.
ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE should be used with caution patients having kidney problems, are on hemodialysis, muscle pain and/or weakness, suffer with different types of seizures including absences, persistent stomach pain, feeling sick and being sick (symptoms of inflamed pancreas), history of drug dependence or abuse, intolerance to certain sugar, have nervous system or respiratory disorders.
ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in children aged below 6 years and should be used with caution in elder patients 65 years of age and above.
One of the serious side effects associated with ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE is self-harming thoughts, contact your doctor immediately if you experience such unusual reactions.
The most common side effects of taking ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE are dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, viral infection, lack of coordination. Consult your doctor if the above symptoms do not improve.
Used to treat:
ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE works effectively by altering the electrical activity in the brain by inhibiting the voltage-gated calcium channels and decreasing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters, thus preventing fits or seizures.ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE also blocks the pain signals travelling through the damaged nerves and the brain and prevents nerve pain.
Take ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE as directed by your physician. Swallow ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE as whole with a glass full of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Correct dosage and duration will be prescribed by your doctor depending upon your age, body weight, and health condition.
Stop taking ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea or Vomiting:
Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Try to Avoid oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks, and drinks. Try to drink liquid slowly along with your meals, or in between meals. Consult your doctor if your symptom is not improving.
Dizziness:
Lie, or sit down immediately when you feel dizzy. If you're feeling severe episode of spinning(vertigo), lie in a quite place with eyes closed. Try to avoid vehicle driving. Discuss with your doctor if the symptom worsens.
Headache:
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Try to take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Massage on scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor if your symptom is not improving.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Talk to your doctor if the symptoms does not improve.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids such as water to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid eating fried and greasy foods. Inform your doctor if the symptoms do not improve.
Constipation:
Drink more water, eat high fiber foods and get regular exercise. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve.
ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in pregnant woman or women planning to have a baby unless prescribed by your doctor. Effective contraception must be used by women of child-bearing potential. Consult your doctor before taking ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE.
ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women as it may pass through breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE.
Do not drive or operate any machines, because ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE may cause dizziness, drowsiness and tiredness.
ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems or undergoing hemodialysis. Consult your doctor before taking ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE.
Do not take ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE if you are allergic to Gabapentin or any other ingredients of this medicine.

Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Signs of overdose includes loss of consciousness, dizziness, double vision, slurred speech, drowsiness, tiredness, and diarrhoea.

Can ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE be stopped on our own?
Do not stop taking ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE suddenly on your own, as it may lead to increased risk of seizure. Continue to take this medicine, as long as your doctor tells you to do so, to obtain better results.
Is ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE safe in pregnant and breast-feeding women?
ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE is not intended for use in pregnant woman unless recommended by your doctor and in breast-feeding woman as it may pass through breast milk to the baby. Consult your doctor about the risk and benefits before taking ACEGABA 400 CAPSULE.
