ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE is a combination of Atorvastatin and Clopidogrel which belongs to the group of medicines called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors and Antiplatelet medicines respectively. ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE is used to reduce elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels in patients when a low-fat diet and lifestyle changes alone have failed.
It can also be used to reduce the risk of heart problems such as myocardial infarction (heart attack), angina (chest pain), heart failure including stroke (reduced blood supply to the brain leading to brain death) or revascularization procedures in adult patients with or without a clinically evident chronic heart disease.
Along with treatment with ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE, patient should follow an appropriate lipid-lowering diet as advised by their doctor to enhance recovery.
Before using ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney disease. Patients with active liver disease should discontinue the use of ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE as it may cause serious side effects in them.
ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women and in patients with bleeding disorders. ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE is not suitable for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years).
Avoid consumption of grapefruit juice or alcohol while taking ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE as it may lead to unwanted interactions. Consult your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
The most common side effects of taking ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE are muscle pain, joint pain, diarrhoea, nausea, headache or stomach pain. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.
ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE reduces elevated cholesterol and risk of heart disease, where atorvastatin acts by inhibiting the action of an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, which is required to catalyze the formation of cholesterol and clopidogrel acts by inhibiting platelet aggregation, which is believed to be an important factor resulting in heart problems (such as heart attack, cardiac failure or angina).
Take ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE as advised by your physician. Swallow ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Stomach pain:
Try to take rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and more frequent meals. Avoid eating oily, spicy or fried foods. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lot of fluids such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid taking any medicine on your own for treating diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the forehead if required. Do not consume too much alcohol. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Flatulence:
Eat smaller and more frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly and exercise regularly. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve .
Constipation :
Eat fiber-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals and drink plenty of water. Try to exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve on its own.
ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant.
ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Consult your doctor for advice.
Do not drive or operate any machines if your ability is affected after taking ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE.
ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE.
ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with active liver disease, including unexplained persistent elevations in hepatic transaminase levels. Consult your doctor before taking ATROCARD C 75MG CAPSULE.
